A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched NASA's CRS-35 commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on October 13th. The pre-dawn liftoff created a glowing "space jellyfish" atmospheric plume and produced sonic booms across central Florida as the first-stage booster returned for a successful landing at Landing Zone 1. The Latta High School National Dance Honor Society will be holding a toddler Halloween costume sale and youth size dance attire sale on Saturday, October 17th from 10 am- 4 pm in the Dance Education classroom located at the back of the EPAC. Students at Dillon District Three's cafeterias recently enjoyed a meal that celebrated the best of local agriculture, featuring collard greens, fresh strawberries, and honey - all proudly grown right here in South Carolina.
LES students did a fantastic job presenting at the board meeting on April 14th! Three 4th grade students along with two 4th grade teachers shared highlights and photos from their trip to the State House for Liberty Day, giving a glimpse into this meaningful learning experience. LES Student Council members, along with Mrs. Luffman, also spoke at the board meeting. They talked about the election process they went through to get elected and proudly showcased the projects they’ve supported and led throughout the school year. You all did an outstanding job representing LES!
Asparagus was introduced to students this week, Tuesday, April 14, 2026! The asparagus was provided by our home state, South Carolina farmers through the Certified SC Cafeteria Program. The asparagus was slightly roasted and served. Many of the students stated that this was their first time trying asparagus and they enjoyed it!
