Latta Schools Announce District Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Member of the Year

Dillon District 3 held a special celebration on September 10th to recognize the teachers and support staff members selected as Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Member of the Year from each school.
The celebration took place in the lobby of the Ellis Performing Arts Center, where guest enjoyed a selection of heavy hors d'oeuvres. Family members, friends, and district administrators gathered to honor the nominees and recognize the meaningful contributions each individual makes to Dillon District 3. The nominees are as follows:
Support Staff Member of the Year
Latta Elementary School-Kelly Smith (School Nurse)
Latta Middle School-Alexander Mays (Maintenance)
Latta High School-Charlotte Gibson (Supervising Custodian)
Teacher of the Year
Latta Elementary School-Kate Britt
Latta Middle School-Cheryl Selby
Latta High School-Susan Bryson
Principals Dollie Morrell, Carrie Ann Brigman, and Nan Carmichael shared highlights of their nominees' accomplishments and spoke about the unique contributions each nominee brings to their schools and the district.
Superintendent Stephanie Ard expressed her appreciation to each nominee, offering words of gratitude for their dedication, commitment, and service to students and the community.
Superintendent Ard, along with Chief Academic Officer Sandy Jones and Human Resources Director Stephanie Weatherford, announced the 2026 District Teacher of the Year and District Support Staff Member of the Year. The 2026 district winners are as follows:
Charlotte Gibson - District Support Staff Member of the Year
Cheryl Selby - District Teacher of the Year
Cheryl Selby will represent Dillon District 3 in the State Teacher of the Year competition. The state winner will be announced in the spring during a ceremony hosted at the Governor's Mansion.
The district would like to congratulate all of the nominees for their outstanding accomplishments and dedication. The district also wishes Cheryl Selby the very best as she represents Dillon District 3 in the statewide competition.
