The South Carolina Agricultural Communications CDE tests FFA members' ability to advocate for agriculture through print, broadcast, and digital media. Teams serve as media consultants, developing strategic media plans designed to communicate agricultural messages to the public. Individual participants also complete communications and editing examinations along with hands-on practicums that assess their skills in writing, editing, design, and media communications.
Throughout the competition, Latta FFA members showcased their ability to effectively tell agriculture's story and connect with diverse audiences through modern communication platforms. Their success reflects the growing importance of agricultural communicators in educating consumers and promoting the agricultural industry.
"This accomplishment demonstrates the dedication, hard work, and talent of our students," said advisor Aaron Miles. "Agricultural communications plays a critical role in today's industry, and these students have developed valuable skills that will serve them well in their future careers."
The Agricultural Communications CDE prepares students for careers in journalism, public relations, marketing, broadcasting, social media management, and other communications fields within agriculture. Participants gain real-world experience while learning how to communicate complex agricultural topics to the public in a clear and engaging manner.
The 99th South Carolina FFA Convention brought together FFA members from across the state to celebrate achievements, participate in leadership development activities, and compete in a variety of Career Development Events designed to build career-ready skills.
By earning the state title, Hannah Lauren Berry, Kate Gasque, Lydia George, and Abigail Jones have demonstrated excellence in agricultural communication and have brought great recognition to the Latta FFA Chapter, their school, and community.
