On Friday, January 30th, LMS and LHS Dance Education students in grades 7th through 12th, attended Coker University's Day of Dance in Hartsville, South Carolina.
The students took part in dance classes offered by the Coker Dance faculty and current Coker dance majors. Classes were offered in ballet, jazz, lyrical, West African, hip hop, improvisation, yoga, contemporary, and musical theater. The day ended with a showcase performed by the Coker dance students. This was Coker's ninth year for their Day of Dance offered to schools throughout South Carolina with Dance Education programs in grades 4th-12th. Latta has been fortunate to attend all nine years and cannot wait to return for their tenth annual Day of Dance next year!
Coker University currently offers a Bachelors of Arts (B.A) in Dance Performance or K-12 Education, a B.F.A. in Choreography, or an interdisciplinary study of dance as a minor.
Latta Middle and High School offers Dance Education as an elective course as part of their Arts program for students in grades 6th through 12th.
