From the Asher Theatre in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, comes MOTOWN '59! James Stephens III, "man of a thousand voices", will bring MOTOWN '59 to the Ellis Performing Arts Center, Latta, SC, on Friday, January 23rd at 6:30 p.m.
Stephens, a widely acclaimed impressionist, comedian, and musician, will direct MOTOWN ’59. Owner and director of the Asher Theatre, Stephens will be the opening act for MOTOWN ’59 in Latta.
James Stephens, Dillon County native, has been called one of the funniest comedians by the editor of Time magazine. Stephens is a regular entertainer on all of the major cruise lines. He has performed all around the world, including Amsterdam, London, and Scotland.
In the U.S., Stephens has performed at various places from Carnegie Hall to the Grand Ole Opry. He has had stand up appearances on ABC, CBS, NBC, as well as Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime, and MTV. He has worked with Jennifer Aniston, Will Ferrell, Chris Rock, Aretha Franklin, Garth Brooks, and others.
Whether playing classical music at the piano, doing impressions of Snoop Dogg, Lionel Ritchie, or John Legend, his cross-over appeals to all races, gender, ethnicity, or creed.
Dance, sing, and laugh your way through Motown’s greatest hits. Who doesn’t love the musical blends of the classic songs of The Four Tops and The Temptations? Songs like “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” and “Baby I Need Your Loving”, as well as “My Girl” and “The Way You Do the Things You Do” will have you wanting to sing along and dance in the aisles.
