Mrs. Williamson’s Advanced Composition students recently reflected on the events of September 11, 2001, through a research-based creative writing activity. Students explored the history and experiences surrounding 9/11 before writing a first-person diary entry imagining what it may have been like to have witnessed that historic, tragic day. Through the activity, students strengthened their research and creative writing skills while also considering the events of 9/11 from the perspectives of those who experienced them.

We kicked off the week with Anything but a Backpack Day, and our Vikings definitely understood the assignment! 🎒🚫 From creative containers to some truly unexpected ways of carrying school supplies, our students showed off plenty of school spirit and creativity.
Check out some of today’s fun! 📸
We can’t wait to see what our Vikings come up with for the rest of Spirit Week!
💚💛 Go Vikings! 💛💚

🏈🏀⚾⚽🏐 Latta Athletics is conducting a Sports Interest Survey for students at Latta High School! We want to learn more about students’ current athletic interests and explore potential opportunities for the future of Latta Athletics.
All students are encouraged to participate—even if you do not currently play a sport! Your feedback will help us better understand what athletic opportunities interest our students.
📅 The survey will remain open through Friday, September 18, 2026.
📲 LHS students can access the Sports Interest Survey on their “Class of” page. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your feedback!
Remember, completing the survey does not guarantee that a sport will be added or that a student will be placed on a team. Responses will help Latta Athletics evaluate student interest and potential opportunities for the future.
Underclassmen Picture Day will take place first thing Thursday, September 17!
Students, come ready to smile for the camera! 😄 If you plan to participate in Spirit Day, no worries—you may change into your Spirit Day outfit after taking your picture.

Let’s make it a great week, Vikings!
Over the past few weeks, LHS English classes have visited the library for an interactive library orientation. Students learned about the resources and services available to them, explored the library’s collection, and discovered how to use the online catalog and other research tools.
Students then put their knowledge to the test with a library scavenger hunt that challenged them to navigate the library, locate books and resources, and become more comfortable using the space independently. Through these orientations, students are gaining the skills they need to make the library a valuable resource throughout their time at LHS.

Every school day is an opportunity for your child to learn, grow, and connect with classmates. Help your child build strong attendance habits by making sure they arrive at school on time, ready to learn, and ready to make the most of each day.

Today is game day for the Lady Vikings! Be sure to come out as they take on Carver's Bay starting at 5:00. Please see more information on the flyers below regarding tonight's theme. Go Vikings!

Check out the attached flyer and plan vacations around school breaks. Every school day matters! Let’s work together to keep our students in school, learning, and growing. 💚💛

LHS students have been enjoying some reading time in the library. If you did not know already, it is officially open for checking out books! Come by the library during IPASS (with a pass), lunch, or directly after school to find your next read!
Cool new titles are delivered each month! Books can be kept for two weeks, and three can be checked out at one time.

Reminder for Seniors: Anyone that did not take their summer senior portrait will need to take their portrait on Thursday during the school day. Mrs. Jordan will come get you out of class for this. Tux and Drape will be provided for all students.
No underclassmen pictures will be taken on this day.
There will NOT be underclassmen pictures on this day. Please let Mrs. Jordan know if you have any questions or concerns.
