Latta High School celebrated Give Like Dolly Day on Friday, September 25, with a special book giveaway outside of the LHS Library. Throughout the day, students were invited to stop by the free bookshelf, browse the available selections, and choose a book to take home and keep.

Inspired by Dolly Parton’s commitment to promoting literacy and putting books into the hands of young readers, the giveaway provided students with an opportunity to discover something new to read—completely free of charge. A variety of books were available, giving students the chance to find a title that matched their own interests.

The event was another way to encourage a culture of reading at LHS and support the school’s message, “Vikings Read, Vikings Lead.” By making books accessible and allowing students to choose what interests them, LHS hopes to continue building excitement around reading both inside and outside of the classroom.

And, in the spirit of Dolly, there’s nothing better than sharing a little kindness—and a good book! 💚💛📚
