Lady Vikings

The Latta High School Volleyball team continues to make school history this season with an impressive 17-3 overall record, a perfect 12-0 in region play, and earning the title of Undefeated Region Champions and Lower State Champions!

A defining moment of this historic run came Tuesday night in the Lower State Championship against Branchville High School—a dominant name in 1A volleyball and a familiar playoff rival. Latta had fallen to Branchville twice in the last three years during postseason play, but this year’s team refused to let history repeat itself. Fueled by determination and unwavering teamwork, the Lady Vikings came out playing lights out, dominating Branchville in three straight sets to capture not only a win, but also the Lower State title for the first time in school history. Their energy, execution, and teamwork from the first serve to the final point showcased just how far this program has come. Under the leadership of Head Coach Genesis Rogers and Assistant Coaches Shelley Marsh and Amber Jordan, the Lady Vikings have earned the chance to play for a State Championship, Saturday November 9th, 2025, at Dreher High School, Columbia, SC against a very talented Abbeville team.

What once seemed like a dream is now a defining chapter for Latta Volleyball. This year’s team achieved their goals of securing the region title, finishing undefeated in region play, and becoming Lower State Champions. The final step remains: the State Title match, where the Lady Vikings continue to embrace the mindset that brought them this far ... taking things one team, one game, one set, and one point at a time. Coach Genesis Rogers has encouraged the girls with this message "Don’t get caught up in the score. Just focus on the next ball, the next play, the next celebration. Trust your training and execute what we’ve practiced. Communicate with one another and celebrate the little things, because every point matters. God has already written this moment into your story. All you have to do is show up and give Him your best."

Be sure to cheer on our Lady Vikings this Saturday as they vie for the State Championship title!
