Since the programs inception, the IB HL Seniors have taken a culminating trip to explore some area of our state and extend their learning beyond the classroom. This year, our students chose to kayak the Waccamaw River with Great Escapes Expeditions in Longs, SC. Everyone agreed the two-hour river adventure was tremendous fun as well as educational. We had the opportunity to see an osprey nest and some local wildlife, including mussels, snakes, fish, and even a boar named "BLT." After a great trip, the students had lunch at Highway Nine Grill House before heading back to school. We appreciate how hard our students work every day, and we hope that this excursion was something they will always remember.
