CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS
Students in 5K-3rd grade and 5th have been working very hard on their Christmas programs, and they are excited to present them to you! 4K and 4th-grade students will not be performing in any Christmas programs. A calendar of each homeroom’s performance date and time is available below. A letter will be sent home to let you know what your child needs to wear on their performance day. Each performance will last approximately 30 minutes, so it is important that you be on time. After each performance, we invite you to take your child to the book fair in our school library. Every purchase helps support our school! We can’t wait to show you their hard work!

VETERAN’S DAY PROGRAM

Our fourth-grade classes have been working extremely hard in preparing for our Veterans’ Day Program. All fourth graders will perform at the EPAC on Tuesday, November 11, at 9:30 to honor our veterans. These students need to wear jeans with a solid red, white, or blue shirt on the day of the performance. We can’t wait to see you there!
DOUGHNUT SALES
Our fall fundraiser with Krispy Kreme was a HUGE success. Many thanks to our parents for your support. We made a profit of $12,052 to use for field trips! The top two sellers going on a $100 shopping spree were Aaric Brown and Noah Webster. The top-selling classes will have their ice cream parties. The top six classes were:
Primary – Bethea & Turner
Lower El – Kirk, Jordan, & Floria
Fourth Grade – Allen
Fifth Grade – Luffman
Congratulations, boys and girls! You all did a fantastic job and helped our school so much!
FIELD TRIPS
All Lower Elementary Montessori classes will be attending a field trip to Ripley’s Aquarium. Teachers have worked together with the staff from the aquarium to plan a fun, educational field trip for your child. Please make sure your child dresses comfortably, with good walking shoes, on the day of their trip.

YEARBOOKS
If you would like to get a yearbook, please send payment to the school in an envelope labeled with your child’s name, homeroom teacher, and the word “yearbook”. You may also purchase online and personalize your yearbook at www.jostens.com. The price of the yearbook is $30.
AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK
American Education Week is November 17-21. Take the time this week to thank an educator and show them appreciation for all they do for our students. Every member of our staff works hard to provide a great education to each of our students. Thank them with a letter or just a few words of encouragement. LES staff is the best!
DISMISSAL NOTICES
If you are signing a student out early, please do so before 2:00 pm unless you have been called by the school nurse. If you know ahead of time that your child will be checked out early, please send a note. This will help the teacher be prepared to send your child home early. You will also need to sign your child out in the office. Please do not take your child from the school without alerting the office staff and signing them out on the clipboard at the front desk.
BOOK FAIR
Is your child on grade level for reading?
Our book fair will have an assortment of books to help your child grow as a reader. It will be held December 8-16. Remember to send the money for the book PLUS the 8% sales tax in a Ziploc bag or envelope stating that it is for the Book Fair. 5K-3rd grade and 5th-grade parents are invited to attend the book fair with your child after your child’s Christmas program performance. Since 4K and 4th grade do not have a Christmas program performance, these parents can attend the book fair any day this week with their child from 7:30-3:15. Happy shopping, and thanks so much for your support!
STUDENT COUNCIL
The LES student council is so excited to kick off their Fall community project! Council members are organizing a canned food drive from November 3-19, and it’s a competition! Hallways will work together to collect the most items, and the winning hallway will receive an ice cream party. The best part is that these non-perishable food items will be given to families in our own school community! Students can bring donations to their homeroom teacher beginning Monday, November 3. We are so proud of our student council for leading our school in this project!
PRIMARY NEWS
November is a time to show the meaning of giving to others. As we approach the Christmas season, we would like our kids to understand how to be a good friend by sharing with others. We will be collecting items for shoebox gifts to send to less fortunate kids. Items may include: small stuffed animals or dolls, toys, coloring books, toothbrushes, hair bows, washcloths, etc. Our goal is to make at least 4 boxes (2 girls and 2 boys) for our class. We ask that each student send in at least 2 items. We already have crayons, markers & pencils for each box. Please send all items by Friday, Nov. 14th.
VETERAN’S DAY DISPLAY
Our fourth-grade teachers have planned a beautiful display for Veterans’ Day. Parents had the opportunity to purchase signs to honor their veteran as part of the display. With the help of our high school Agricultural Department, we can proudly display these signs alongside hundreds of American flags. We hope that our veterans are honored by this beautiful display. Please find some time to visit LES to see this breathtaking view!
THANKSGIVING BREAK
We have an entire week off for Thanksgiving this year! It is a great time to enjoy each other as a family. Spending time together can help children develop social skills and become better communicators. It decreases behavior problems and helps children succeed academically. Please use this break from school to make memories with your child! We can’t wait to hear all about it in December!
