The mission of The Latta Schools Educational Foundation is to cultivate resources to improve the educational environment in the Latta School District. Bylaws of The Latta Schools Educational Foundation, Inc.
LSEF will award financial assistance scholarships to qualified students who plan to pursue post-secondary education or teachers pursuing a master's degree in a specific area of education. Awards will also be given to teachers in the form of competitive mini-grants for specific classroom projects to enhance classroom instruction. Funding can also be directed towards capital projects or in support of school programs.
Listed below are approximate annual scholarships currently being awarded to students in the Latta School District from the endowed restricted funds in the Foundation.
Updated 12/7/12 Funding will be sought through a fundraising campaign, grants and individual/corporate sponsorships. There is currently approximately $96,000 in restricted endowed funds for student scholarships, $132,000 in restricted funds for building construction, and $40,000 in unrestricted funds for mini-grants, teacher scholarships and capital projects. The Foundation also has ownership of four unimproved residential lots in Latta, one improved lot with a duplex apartment in Latta, fourteen acres of unimproved farm acreage/woodlands in the Latta School District, five acres of property adjacent to District Office, land and building being renovated into the Ellis Performing Arts Center, and one hundred forty two acres of unimproved woodlands in the Latta School District, all valued at $2,325,000. There is still currently a fundraising campaign to raise an additional $1.25 million to match the current $1.25 million that has already been acquired in the capital campaign to construct the Ellis Performing Arts Center.
